Content Info For The Week

Math (Carver, Beasley, and Meeks):

Students will take the math BEACON test on Monday (whole school).

This week, we will be wrapping up unit 4. We will explore scatterplots and two-way tables as a part of our statistic standards. We will take our unit four assessment on 2/28 (tentatively planned).

Homework this week will be on USATESTPREP.

Algebra I (Meeks):

Students will take the math BEACON test on Monday (whole school).

We will begin to prepare for out Unit 2 algebra one assessment. Our assessment will be on Wednesday. After our assessment, we will begin exploring exponential functions.

Homework this week will be on USATESTPREP.

Read 180 (Styron and Barker):

This week in R180 students will compare and contrast the plots, settings, characters, and themes of two fantasy stories, analyze how information is organized to determine its effect, analyze what is clearly stated in the text and infer what is not clearly stated. Additionally, they will use transitions to organize details in writing as well as develop and present a book jacket for a Workshop text, a book from class, or a book from home to grab readers’ attention.

ELA (MacArthur and Lee):

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will continue their novel study of Hidden Figures. Students will be analyzing the text for examples of figurative language, text structure, and authors' purpose.

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue reading our in-class novel Hidden Figures. We will continue to examine the text for the author's purpose, text structure, and other elements of nonfiction literature. Students will also continue to identify key vocabulary from the text, and our warmups will continue to focus on sentence types and structure.

9th Grade Lit (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will watch the movie version of To Kill a Mockingbird. We will be comparing characterization and plot development between the two medias, to determine how certain elements of the book translate to film. We will also begin our Performance Task #3 for this unit, our persuasive essay. Students will review the elements of persuasive writing before responding to a DBQ which examines how certain characters in TKAM hold or lack power.

Science (Winkworth and Herndon):

Social Studies (MacArthur and Collier):

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will take their unit 8 test over WWI, The Great Depression, The New Deal, and WWII. Students will spend Monday and Tuesday reviewing for the test. We will test on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr. Collier's Georgia Studies Classes will continue our adventure through the Civil Rights Movement, specifically beginning to look at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's impact on the movement and in Georgia!

Look what we have been up to!
