“NOT ALL THOSE WHO WANDER ARE LOST” ~ J.R.R. TOLKIEN

Two things have been a constant in my life- moving and taking pictures. From a young age my mother moved us around a lot. When I graduated high school, I joined the Coast Guard. I have never lived at a single address more than five years.

On some subconscious level, this drove a desire to capture all my memories of places I lived and people I knew. Between life and military training, a candid photography style developed.

"To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; credible we must be truthful." ~ Edward Murrow

While my job as a public affairs specialist allows me to travel for work, often that work is spent on the phone with media for crisis communications. When I do get behind a camera, its about telling the story, sometimes history, unfolding before me. I may be able to pause the person, but there are no do-overs.

As I branch out from the military, that photojournalism style has evolved in my travel and portrait work. I enjoy looking for the story in the environment or the people interacting in it.

Moving into the future, I want to work more with portraits. Candid, environment work is in high demand for couples and families and there is no shortage of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or other special events to capture.
