Indian River State earns 41st NJCAA title

Fort Pierce, FL - Behind strong standout and individual performances across the board, Indian River State (FL) captured the 2022 NJCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship in front of its home crowd at the Indian River State Complex. The Pioneers scored 1413.5 points to win the title in a field of 10 teams.

The race for second, third, and fourth was close with Southwestern Oregon (651), Iowa Central (558), and Barton (KS) (543.5). Monroe CC (NY) scored 161 points and in-state foe Genesee (NY) scored 214 points to earn sixth.

Championship Results

The Pioneers' brought in almost 40 points more than they did last year, improving to 41 national championship titles.

Indian River State captured first in the diving events and filled spots one through nine in scoring.

Indian River collects swimmer and diver of the meet merits

Gina Miller was awarded the 2022 NJCAA Female Swimmer of the Meet following top finishes in the 200 yard freestyle, 500 yard freestyle, 400 yard freestyle relay, among others.
Madison Price was tabbed the 2022 NJCAA Female Diver of the Meet after heroic performances in the 1 meter dive and 3 meter dive, collecting wins in both.

Jamestown (NY) swimmer lands prestigious honor

Jamestown's (NY) Tia Moppert was awarded the 2022 NJCAA Non-Scholarship Swimmer of the Meet after helping the Jayhawks to a fifth-place team finish in Fort Pierce. Yuchnitz competed in over 10 events and scored 31 points.

Brinn garners top coaching honor

Indian River State was headed by Sion Brinn, the Women’s Swim Coach of the Year recipient after coaching the Pioneers' to a 41st consecutive title. Coached under Brinn, Gina Miller broke records in the 1000 and 500 freestyle.

Brinn also coached William Beckstead-Holman to records in the 50 and 100 backstroke swimming events.
Iowa Central placed third overall, led by Lily Wright with 65 points. The Tritons pulled together 558 team points. Just four points scored less than last year, the Tritons placed third last year as well.
