Mrs Trickett - Head of school
As you are aware, new measures are constantly being updated. We are still living in uncertain times and we thank you for your continued support with maintaining safety measures and following our risk assessment. We need to ensure our pupils, families and staff are kept safe at all times. If you would like to see the risk assessment, you can view via our website here:
As ever, we are always available if you need any assitance or advice, please call on 01226710329 or email MFPS.parents@hcacademytrust.education Thanks.
Can we ask that all pupils continue to read regularly at home and swap their books in our library? We would really appreciate you looking around the house for any books with our school stamp in and returning as soon as possible.
Dont forget, we have been selected as a charity to vote for in our local Tesco store at Hemsworth. From January until the end of March, use your blue tokens every time you shop and vote for the Milefield reading scheme at the voting point. The more people who vote, the more money we get for even more books!
Due to many various illnesses this term, our attendance figures have fluctuated but we are confident these will rise again to above our target of 97%. Please call school for advice, support or with any questions if your child is ill at home. We still need to remain vigilant in relation to COVID-19 and measures in place. See below for figures this term:
Autumn term 1: 96%
Autumn term 2: 94.9%
Spring term:
Week 1: 95.3%
Week 2: 95.2%
Week 3: 95.3%
Week 4: 93.2%
Week 5: 94.4%
Week 6: 94.7%
Week 7: 94%
Spring term 1: 96.7%
Our target is 97%. I know we can do better from March 2022!
Key points from our school policies/home/school agreement:
- School uniform - consists of grey trousers/skirt with green jumper and white/green polo. These do not need to have our logo on.
- Black shoes (not trainers) which are sensible and plain.
- No jewellery whatsoever - watches are ok as long as they are not smart watches.
- Uniform should be worn every single day, unless it is a fancy dress or dress down day.
- PE kit - Plain white t-shirt/polo shirt, plain black shorts (indoors) or tracksuit bottoms (outdoors), plain hoody/jumper (outdoors) and plain black pumps/trainers. Absolutely no jewellery allowed at all.
- PE kit can be worn all day on the PE day or day of a sporting event.

- Packed lunches should not contain any nuts or traces of nuts. They should also contain healthy food, no sweets should be brought to school.
- Mobile phones/mobile devices are not required in school. Anything brought into school is at the owner's risk and must be given to class teachers at the start of the day.
- Footballs/ playing cars/pokemon cars/football stickers etc. may be brought in but are at the risk of the owner. School do not take any responsibility whatsoever for these items. If any problems occur due to these items, school will ban them completely.
- School day:
- Our school day begins at 8.50am and ends at 3.15pm (unless in Nursery). Please do not allow pupils who walk to school to come onto the site until 8.45am at the earliest. We do not open the doors until 8.50am so are not responsible for pupils until then.
- Parents do not need to come onto school site until 3.10pm at the earliest to collect pupils at the end of the day. Lessons continue until 3.15pm each day. Please, if you are on site early, keep your distance from classrooms so teachers can complete lessons without distraction.
- Homework: Parents are asked to listen to children read , practise times tables & practise spellings daily. We also set homework via Seesaw (online). If your child requires paper copies, please speak to classteacher at your earliest convenience. We do have devices we can loan out too.
- Vehicle access to school, please ensure you only enter the car park if you or your child has a blue badge. If you have a pre-existing arrangement with Miss Jones, this is also acceptable.
- If you walk into the grounds with your child, please stick to the pathways and the crossings as cars are always coming and going into the car park. There is a children's centre on site and cars require access at all times. No pupils should be allowed near staff cars or to walk through the car park at any time.
Thank you for your continued support in all the above, we must continue to work together to ensure our pupils remain safe and come to school ready to learn.

Class 1
In year one, Mrs Burnett's class have been up to lots of amazing things. Take a look at our pic collages below...
We are going to be looking at the story of Yeti and the bird in literacy, which is all about an unusual friendship. We will be writing postcards and letters and talking about what makes a good friend.
We are looking forward to learning more about the technology that we use and how to stay safe online.
Over half term it would be great to practice your phonics, tricky words and reading just a little bit every day. Also, you can practice writing your first and second name and numbers to 20.
We have been inspired by George Seurat and used the technique of pointillism. In RE we have looked at why some times are special for different people. We made diva lamps from salt dough to show we understand why Hindus celebrate Diwali, or The Festival of light'. In PE we have been exploring our gymnastic skills and creating our own sequence to music.

Class 2
We have had a very busy and exciting half term with lots of amazing achievements!
For our final outcome in Art, we have enjoyed creating our very sculptures which the children are very proud of!
It Literacy, we have published our wolf character descriptions and non-chronological reports. It has been great to see the amazing progress children have made within their writing.
Next half term we have lots of wonderful things planned. In curriculum, our next is going to be a computing topic based on e-safety, whereby we will gather all of the skills we need to make our very own videos about how to keep safe online!
In Literacy we will be reading a brand new and exciting book about an animal and their wonderful adventure, I wonder who can guess what this could be?
We will be continuing to prepare for our year 2 SATs next half term in maths and reading, supporting children in building their confidence when answering test style questions. In order to support your child with this, homework in these areas will be sent home over the half term holidays.
As always, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you back in school after a well earned break.
