Who I am
My name is Houston Santillan and I am a senior at Cal State University Fullerton majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. My expected graduation date will be May 2023.
Houston's Background
I am an analyst for Titan Capital Management, a student-led investment program managing an equity, fixed income, and a combined portfolio accumulating to $2 Million AUM. I plan to gain experience through this program by acquiring financial modeling practice, interpreting valuation models, proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg, and conducting equity research. I served as an intern and promoted to program manager for Project Destined, a 10-week commercial real-estate internship through Fall '21 and Spring '22 with Sera Global. Additionally, I gained experience as an Accounts Payable/ Receivable accountant at Codan.Inc where I worked directly with the Director of Finance & Head of Accounting. I plan on sitting for the CFA Level 1 Exam in February 2023 to expand my fundamental knowledge of Finance. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a career as a financial analyst in institutional asset management.

Titan Capital Management
Investment Analyst ( May 2022 - Present )
As an investment analyst in Titan Capital Management (TCM), I collaborate with 15 other students actively managing $2 MM among three portfolios. I am responsible for the Information Technology sector to research and organize strong fundamental companies to add to our portfolio. Through my process, I perform DCF models, qualitative research, analyze risk, and financial statement analysis. I utilize the knowledge of my finance courses and CFA L1 material to generate alpha for our clients.
Codan Inc.
Accountant ( July - October '21 )
As an accounts receivable accountant, I entered data through the up-to-date ERP system Sage to collect hundreds of vendor payments totaling $500,000 weekly. I manually inputted accounts payable invoices daily to ensure appropriate payment to vendors through checks totaling $400,000 weekly. I worked directly with the Director of Finance and head of accounting to contact vendors to ensure adequate payments.
Internship Experience
I began at Projected Destined ( Fall '21 ) as a commercial real estate intern through Sera Global. Through the 10-week internship my team of eight interns initiated in a value-add acquisition for an $8,750,000 subject property, revised, and presented to investment analysts. I learned and gained skills in financial underwriting simulated financial deals of subject CRE acquisitions to measure risk-adjusted returns and valuations of assets. In Spring '22, I was promoted to program manager to overlook 8 new interns with 2 other program managers through the CRE internship program at Sera Global. I learned leadership skills, managerial experience, and relationship building with mentors through my internship experience.

Community Involvement
As an active treasurer, I managed a budget of $35,000 for the OCHYCC to ensure proper fund usage and engaged in cash flow forecasting on a weekly basis. As a board member, I coordinated a monthly roundtable focusing on college and career readiness workshops for high school and college students. I regularly coordinated with board members of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce to help organize philanthropy and fundraising events.
The CAPS program sponsored by the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce whose mission is to advocate the drastic influence of Hispanic small businesses and communities through a statewide convention held in the capital coordinated by this current cohort. As a CAPS student, I am preparing a presentation on the positive impacts of ESG on companies and small businesses across California at the CHCC statewide convention this summer in Oakland, CA.
