Science week and more…

This week marked National Science week and the theme of growth. We decided to carry out an experiment to see if your height would mean you had bigger hands.

We though of different ways we could do this; hand to hand, drawing around hands and measuring and decided on the best method. We carried out the experiment by drawing around our hands, measuring them with cubes and them measuring the cubes with rulers to get an accurate result. We even out our results onto a bar graph!

We also got to visit the Year 6 children in the hall who had designed and carried out some truly amazing experiments. We were totally blown away by their knowledge and skills and hope we can become super scientists like them too when we get to year 6!

Also this week we continued with our brilliant art project and had a go at printing our repeating patterns onto large pieces of fabric… it was really fun but took a lot of concentrating.

We had a really fun music lesson this week too, where we were using the xylophones to make a composition with our partners and record them. We used 3 notes and took turns playing.

We had a fantastic music lesson with Mr Breheny too, even if it was freezing, we used our new play equipment and area to come up with great ways to keep our bodies moving and exercised. It was such good fun and we used some ideas in our own playtime’s too!

We have also been learning about internet safety in computing and designed some posters to remind people to be safe online.

In English this week we wrote our final letter, as Sunny the meerkat, to our families to let them know what we thought of all the places we had visited. We decided home was the best place for us and now know why animals live in certain places.

Check out our work on seesaw to see our final letters.

Finally, we started some multiplication this week. We loved using cups to practically multiply amounts and we even moved on to recording this pictorially too.

Well done to Edivaldo for being our star of the week and Faith our super scientist!
