Personal Statement

  • "My career has been built around creating and installing "One Off" sculptures and designs for gardens, entry features, parks, churches, municipalities, and schools. My primary medium is weathered steel, stainless steel, aluminum, acrylic sheet/Lexan, and native limestone. I incorporate LED lighting in my designs when appropriate and have started to incorporate more painted steel in my work. My Midwestern roots and a career as a Registered Landscape Architect influence my designs. The native trees, shrubs, and perennial plants I work with and the rugged weather of the Midwest provide my inspiration. Natural landforms and native plants are often the starting points for my sculpture concepts. I use materials that are long lasting and weather naturally without needing maintenance or care. My works are designed and constructed to be stout, long term installations with little or no maintenance needed. I have a full-scale fabrication studio with painting, and powder coating subcontracted locally"
