Siesta 2023

Something special at Mercy High School, is that every year we have a mission. This mission is something we as a community can try and bring awareness, raise money, and do what we can to contribute/ help a cause. This year, our mission is to help women/young girls in Nairobi Kenya get an education so they can thrive and live successful lives. To help raise money for this mission we have a week dedicated to talking about and bringing awareness to the mission and at the end of the week we have a celebration and money raising event called Siesta.

Pizza lunch!

The event started off with a pizza lunch provided by Godfathers Pizza. The students had to have purchased a pizza ticket the week before in order to get the pizza, but there was still a long line! There was a little mix up with the time for the pizza to be delivered but in the end everyone was fed.

Student council helped organize Siesta and different clubs set up fun tables for the students to enjoy. Some had food like a popcorn bar or Ice cream bar, others were fun games that the students purchased tickets to play.

Music Bingo!

One of the fun games was Music Bingo. the students gave to tickets for a card with song titles, and if they won they received 10 tickets. When walking passed Franey you could hear the students singing along to some of their favorite songs.

Some of these activities included funny jokes created by the students. One of the games was “pin the demerit on the McCoy.” Another fun way we raised money was by having the students pay for someone to be put inside a “jail” for. Certain amount of time.
