Term 2a, week 4

This week we continued our African mask designs by deciding on the colours we’d like to use.

As part of our mantle work and learning, we investigated the people who have appeared on our banknotes. We did some research about each of them and then presented this to the rest of the class.

From this we drew up a list of criteria which we think the Bank of England use to decide on who is chosen to appear.

Using this criteria we are going to decide who we think should be on the next design- watch this space for our thoughts and arguments.

Following on from our work last half term, we had a visit from Simone from the Tyne and Wear Rivers Trust.

She taught us more about rivers and the risk of flooding.

We used a model to simulate a flood and what we can do to prevent flooding.

We investigated what we can use in our gardens, materials we can use to slow down flooding and how plants can help too.

Following on from this, we designed a ‘green’ house and garden.

We also made suggestions that we can do to improve our own homes and gardens.

Also this week, we’ve had fun building dens using the new play equipment in our new playground.

This week’s Star of the Week was Lily. Her confidence has improved so much and she has begun to participate and apply herself in all areas of her learning. Well done Lily- keep it up!
