Plunkett Post Term 4 Week 8

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As this edition of Plunkett Post is published today last minute touches are being added to student work for our MADDEN events tonight and Sunday. I am looking forward to seeing our students perform and mixing with parents and the community over the weekend.

We had two groups of students perform at Schools Spectacular last week. This is a huge event run by the Department and schools must audition to be part of the show. Our students loved the experience and performed their hearts out – it was a very big week with some extra long days so everyone was exhausted by Saturday night. I’d like to thank Mrs Ann-Maree Veljanovski for her work with both groups to prepare them for the show.

Students have two weeks of school left in 2022. This year has certainly flown by. There are many events for students occurring over the next two weeks – Presentation Day, excursions and a Christmas Concert to name some of them.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their support of the school throughout 2022. Our school has been a very busy place as we’ve returned to ‘normal’ after the last two years of COVID regulations and guidelines that caused disruptions to many of our school activities. It has been wonderful to see our senior students heading off to school camps again.

As this is our last edition of Plunkett Post for the year I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope the weather is kind to us all and everyone has the chance to spend time with family and friends. Our staff will all be enjoying the chance to unwind and recharge over the break.

The last day for students is Friday 16 December. Students in Years 1 –6 will start the 2023 school year on Tuesday 31 January with Kinder students starting progressively from Wednesday 1 February, 2023.

Nicole Humphreys, Principal

Students from our school have recently undertaken an educational tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of thier Civics and Citzenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the cost of the excursion othe Australian Government contributed funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
