Book Review 1
This is a novel about a 41 year old named Lauren who is about to get married and is left at the altar. Eric the groom of the wedding sent a single text and said he was backing out of the wedding. Can you imagine getting all dressed up and waiting at the hall to get married and he is a no show? How would you feel? How would you feel if the text wasn’t even sent to you? Would you be able to pick up the pieces after knowing and trusting this person for two years?
A big positive is that this novel will grab your interest from page one. You will not want to put it down. Something happens in the book to Lauren, would she actually call Eric? The suspense is building. I must get back to the book, you will have to find out for yourself. A big positive is that this author wrote other books. Her style of writing is quite exciting.
The negative aspect of this book is that I finished it and wanted more, but it ended.
A big negative nowadays is that you could unfortunately be left at the altar. This generation seems more unsure then the previous one. This is due to less in person interaction and too much interaction on the computer. A mix of both would be the best of both worlds.
A rating of 5 out of 5 stars is what this book deserves. It was well written and will hold your interest till the very last page. The cover of the book is an eye popper, very well done, oh yes.
This book is recommended for young, middle aged and senior adults. It is recommended to all those who want a good book that they won’t want to put down. Read it and see for yourself.
Book Review 2
This book contains letters and beautiful poems that Shari Lyn Anderson’s mom saved from her aunt. 101 letters were written to the author's mom and saved. How beautiful! It shows how much she loved her niece. The author's mother had Polio and was in the hospital. What is the name of the great aunt, you say? I say, her name was Sadie Kleinberg. Her niece's name ( the author's mother) was Rhoda Levine. It takes place in New York, wartime in the year 1941. Rhoda lived in Brooklyn at the time and was paralyzed from the waist and below. Sadie and Rhoda were close as aunt and niece. They really bonded. Sadie Kleinberg changed her name to Estelle King during a time when antisemitism was at an all time high in this country. That was the time when a war was going on in Europe. She felt if she changed her name more opportunities would come to her in the job market. She was unemployed at the time. Changing her name made a big difference and she was now employed.
A big positive is finding out in the beginning of the book that although Rhoda, who didn’t know much about Judaism sent her children to Hebrew and Sunday school. This way her children would learn what she wasn’t taught. She even learned along with her kids. She made sure that her children were proud to be Jewish, bravo to her I say. Another positive was being able to read these beautiful letters shared in the book, a must read. Can you imagine getting such beautiful letters filled with love and poetry when you are a child of ten years old stuck in the hospital with Polio? The letters were from November 1941 - March 1942.
The negative was hearing about the mom's poor condition as a child and her hospitalization. As we heard, she had Polo. Visiting hours were allowed for only two days a week for one hour. The letters that she received from her aunt at that time were very important to her and would make one teary eyed.
This book deserves the rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
It is rated upon hearing how the author's mom raised her children. She never spoke poorly of anyone and she treated all the same. The book is written with much heart and emotion. You could feel the love with each page read. It deserves this rating alone from reading the beautiful letters that were shared in the book. A big thank you to the author of the book for sharing these beautiful letters of love with all who read this book.
This book is recommended to young adults, middle aged and the elderly. It is recommended to all those who want to hear how the author's mom taught her children how to treat everyone with respect, how to be kind and how to be a loving person and how to be optimistic.
Book Review 3
This memoir is about a woman whose husband was convicted of murder and what her family went through. Her husband‘s name was Danny Pelosi.
The events took place on October 21, 2001.
Her husband was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life. Would the life of this woman and her children ever be the same again? She had suffered through so much. Will this woman pick up the pieces and persevere?
A positive that I am quoting from this book is, “ Think the unthinkable and do the impossible“.
Would this woman actually help many people later on in her life? Would her work of helping others actually save her? Does she have amazing strength to make it through horrible things that she shouldn’t have gone through? You be the judge and read and find out.
The negative aspects are: would her husband, the electrician, actually be a killer, is it possible?
Would her children be badly affected if he was?
Another negative to me is that this strong lady was married for twenty years to this man who could be a killer now. What will happen when he is brought to trial for possibly murdering a wealthy financier? The suspense is really building.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the strength of the author to share her story of all she went through. This rating is given to her for inspiring others to pick up the pieces and go on with life. It is for her positively in spite of it all. How did she do it? Don’t we all want to know and learn from her? Bravo to her and bravo to her for helping others. I applaud her for encouraging others and for so much more. We can all learn from this lady, thank you for not giving up while others would. Have faith ladies and read this book. It is one of her self published books.
I recommend this book to all young adults, middle aged and the elderly to read. It is to be read to hear the author’s life story and to learn how to persevere through very tough times especially when children are involved as a mother. At the end of the book there are questions to answer to help you on your path to a happier life. ‘’ Martha Luther king said, “ if you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl , but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.“
Book Review 4
The book begins with a girl named Serena saying that her mom named Barbara had passed away. She was now only left with her dad named Robert. Serena feels like she has gone through so much already by taking care of many things. Serena now came to help her dad go through her mom's things. We find out in the first chapter that Serena was a Molecular biologist. Her mom had Cancer before she passed away. Setena learns much about Cancer cells through studying them through a microscope. Serena wonders why her mom disliked her most of her life? We now hear that Serena has a daughter whose name is Maggie. Will Serena be a good mother even though she didn’t really have much of a relationship with her own mom? It makes one think? No one thought she would be one, well you will have to read the book to find out, I won’t tell. Could Serena fit motherhood into her tough work schedule? Would it be easy or tough? She worked long hours.
The positive of this book is that this is the author's first novel and boy did she hit it out of the park with it. The writing just flows and holds your interest throughout the book. You will drop everything and will not want to put it down. It is written well and a page turner. You will find out a secret close to the end of the book which I didn’t expect. You will feel like you are watching a great movie as you read this book. There is so much that goes on in this book that is quite exciting. If I was
giving out awards, this book would get one. My hope is that this book wins an award as it should.
The negative aspect is that there isn’t a part two of the book, more is definitely wanted on my end. Another negative is that a movie wasn’t made out of this book yet as it hopefully will have one.
A rating of 5 out of 5 stars is well deserved for this book. It is rated for all the words that flow one into the other. It is extremely well written, especially for the author's first book. It is rated for keeping one up late and wanting to know how it ends.
It is recommended for all that want an exceptional book in every way possible. It is recommended to a new author to see how it should be done. Don’t take my word for it, read it yourself and you will surely find out, no doubt.
Book Review 5
Sukkah-Doodle-Doo!
A Holiday to Crow About
This is such a delightful Children’s book that starts off with an invitation from the Mindel family to join them in their Sukkah for the holiday Of Sukkot. The invitation looks so real. An excellent job was done with the graphics in this book, one will have to see it for themselves to believe it. The book shows the family decorating the Sukkah with great excitement. It definitely will make you and your child run out to get a Sukkah and decorate it.
A big positive in this book is that it will actually make you sing as there are songs in it toward the end of the book. It was a lovely surprise finding it, what a treat it was. A lovely riddle was found in the book as well. The biggest positive is that your child will love to read it after you have read it to them. They will want to reread this book before and during the holiday of Sukkot.
A negative is that the book ended as more was wanted. Another negative is that some Jewish people don’t know that much about the holiday of Sukkot. This book will show you the joys of the beautiful holiday we spend inside a Sukkah.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for all the information about the holiday. I rate it for the wonderful glossary it has in the back of the book. I rate it for the beautiful music notes shown in the book.
I recommend this book for children ages 2-8 years of age.
I recommend it to the parents of these young children.
It is recommended for all that want to learn about the holiday of Sukkot.
Book Review 6
The book starts off by talking about a purebred male shih tzu dog named Javi. His real name was Java. He is named Java because when he was born he was the color of coffee mixed with milk. That is what we as humans call coffee.
There is another dog called Binah, a three year old Havanese who is a female dog. These two dogs are siblings because they have the same mother who is human. However, they came from 2 different birth mamas who were dogs like themselves so they aren't really siblings. The human mother named Tali who is the owner of these two dogs adores them.
The first chapter speaks about the year, 1999. It discusses movies with dogs in it. You will learn a bit about the Shih tzu breed. It also discusses that there was a town called Milford that was very small. The town had only one ZIP Code, one gas station, one supermarket, and one ice cream store.
The book teaches children many things. It teaches them about doing the right thing, especially when nobody is watching.
I love the description in the book that describes the relationship between a dog and a human. “It’s a marriage of sorts, until death do them part.”
This book will definitely teach children many things about dogs. It will warm their hearts and yours as well.
The book states the importance of friendship which is another plus. One will adore the photos of the dogs in the book. One will adore this quote from the book “ Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” —-Groucho Marx
The only negative thing about the book is that I finished the book and I want more.
This book definitely deserves the rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It is a book where a child can learn so much about dogs and life in general. It will also teach good values. It is a feel good book and you will want to reread it to your child or even to yourself.
It is recommended for children 10 years and above. It is recommended to any adult as well. This book will warm your heart. The photos of the dogs in the book are beyond cute. You and your child will think of this book after you finish reading it, I promise you. I label this book inspirational, warming for the heart and a great tool for learning good values as a child. In closing, I want to thank the author for writing such a book. This book will certainly make your day from the minute you pick it up.
