My original inspiration for my project was my interest in long exposure portrait photography as well as my interest in psychology. Originally I wanted to combine these along with color psychology to help evoke the same emotion in my viewer.
After removal of the harsh colors, I was much happier with how they turned out. This decision created my expressional movement section of my book.
I was pleased with the images that I created, but I wanted to expand on techniques used in my book and wanted to capture other types of movements. So, I dove further into research for inspiration.
I thought the long exposure was stunning and expressive but it lacked the amount of control I desired for my photos. When I discovered images layered onto one another I quickly realized that I wanted to attempt that technique.
After the first shoot I decided that this was going to be the final direction I would take my project in.
I changed my mind several times during the course of this project, but I believe that in the end, my images were successful. I am pleased with the progress I have made in lighting, shooting, and composition. This project forced me to familiarize myself with technology like Lightroom and Photoshop, and is now a skillset that it useful for my future as an Art Educator.
