A Message From Our Executive Director, Lorelei Pfautz
Home is where our story begins…
It is that place where our earliest memories, hopes, dreams, love, security and comfort are born. For some it is also the place where resilience, perseverance, and preservation are developed. It is all part of the story.
I was fortunate to grow up in a modest but loving home. Even when I became a mother and had my own family, going home was a wonderful experience. The sounds, the smells and sleeping in my childhood bed reminded me of all the pieces of my story that had been woven together over time. Now the story continues as my children come home with their children and we add to our story of family. I am never happier than when all my children and grandchildren are together.
Friendly House is much more than a building for many of our families. It is home. It is a place where there is comfort, protection, support and yes, even love. Many of our children grow to be parents and bring their children back to us so that they can have the Friendly House experience as part of their story. Some of our seniors share wonderful memories of time gone by as children at Friendly House. We have staff members who came to Friendly House as children. They want the children they work with to have the same experiences they had. These are great compliments to our history and our legacy.
What an honor. What an opportunity to serve.
Thank you for being part of the story. Your support as a staff member, volunteer, board member, supporter or funder means that together our story can have a happy ending. And Friendly House can continue to be that place that many call home.
Since 1896, Friendly House has been providing quality, affordable programs and services to children, families and seniors in the Quad City community.
