Professor Richard Dobson

Dr Athanasios Tsanas ('Thanasis'), BSc, BEng, MSc, DPhil (Oxon), SMIEEE, FHEA, FRSM

Richard Dobson is professor of health informatics and Head of the Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics, King's College London and also at the Institute of Health Informatics, UCL. His group has expertise in computer and data science, machine learning and AI, software development, engineering, trials and hospital IT. He is motivated by the integration of data from patient records with genomics data and mobile health for better understanding of the interplay between mental and physical health. He co-chairs the Centre for Translational Informatics and is co-PI for the Text Analytics programme within the national institute for Health Data Research (HDR UK). He is also investigator for other programmes including the national Mental Health Data Hub (DATAMIND) and the London AI Centre. His group have developed award winning technology components included in several major EU IMI programmes including RADAR-CNS, RADAR-AD, BigData@Heart, AIMS-2-Trials. He has implemented platforms for analytics into hospitals for direct patient care (e.g. CogStack).
