LATEST NEWS

I can't believe that the 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end! This year has brought many challenges and required adjustments from all, but it also brought the incredible joy of being able to resume so many of our engaging classroom practices and events. This was also the year to launch many additional programs, clubs and celebrations. We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the learning and to promote ways for our students to shine.

We have been so busy with our Wonder Woman Celebration, Volunteer Recognition, Fifth Grade Corey/Jones Kickball Tournament, Field Day and the PTA sponsored Talent Show.

end of year events

We are in the middle of our Award Ceremonies, and have enjoyed celebrating and recognizing our Kinder, First, and Fourth Grade students. We look forward to the rest of our Award Ceremonies next week, as well as our Fifth Grade Graduation.

Wonder Woman celebration

Our Second Grade students celebrated the special women in their lives by performing beautiful songs and a poem, presenting them with artwork representing their "Wonder Woman" in their favorite place, taking pictures, and sharing the poems, articles and other projects they created. What a beautiful way to honor the special "Wonder Women" in their lives! I must admit to being so moved that I shed some tears while hearing them perform.

"Wonder Woman" Celebration

corey/jones kickball tournament

We began a new tradition this school year - the Corey/Jones Kickball Tournament! Students were mixed in various teams, which provided them the opportunity to spend some time with the students from Jones. Students enjoyed a day of team-building, kickball, Kona Ice, and a picnic. A huge thank you to the staff from Jones, the staff from Corey, and the number of volunteers who made this event a reality! Thank you, Coach Crocker, Coach Buckley, members of the Multiple Intelligence team, Fifth Grade teachers and volunteers for your dedication.

field day

Field Day was a success this past week (and the weather even cooperated). We were able to engage in fun events and enjoy spending time with friends in the sun. We even had a surprise visit from Coach Holly. It was a day to remember, and we are so thankful to all our visitors, volunteers, staff, Coach Crocker, Coach Buckley, and Multiple Intelligence team for joining us and for making this event a reality.

Visit from Dr. Cavazos

"The DIvas and the Dude" were able to perform their Destination Imagination "Tricky Tales" skit for the Fifth Grade students and our Superintendent, Dr. Marcelo Cavazos. Dr. Cavazos provided words of inspiration to the team, as well as congratulating them for all their hard work. The team impressed us all with their creativity and talent. We know that they will do well as they compete in the Destination Imagination finals in Kansas City, MO. We are all cheering for them!

Corey Cubs PTA

Our Corey Cubs PTA plays such an integral role in our school community. We would like to thank all who served on the Board this year, as well as all the volunteers. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome the 2022-2023 PTA Board.

Remember, PTA isn’t just for parents and teachers! Students, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, business leaders, community members, and other staff members all help enhance the experiences of our students! 💙

campus star volunteers

We would not be able to accomplish all that we accomplish without the tireless support of our volunteers. Our volunteers assist in so many ways, such as helping us prepare instructional materials, planning and running various events, chaperoning during fieldtrips, facilitating campus events, etc. They spend countless hours doing all they can to make our lives easier. We are so blessed.

We would like to thank Ms. Houston, for coordinating our volunteers this year. We would also like to recognize Claudia A. and Brooke R. for the many hours spent on and off campus supporting our teachers. They were invited to a special luncheon provided by AISD as the volunteers representing Corey.

talent show

Our Corey Cubs PTA hosted our Talent Show, and we certainly have an incredible amount of talent at Corey. Our students were so impressive as they sang, danced, played instruments, cheered, did stand up comedy, solved puzzles, did magic tricks, and overall "wow-ed" the audience. Please see pictures below of some of our performers.
