The AGC Colombia team conducted a field trip to the mining site in Itsmina from 23 to 28 June 2021 to develop a needs based assessment, that would address four key objectives:
1. Assist in the selection of the Output’s participant group: baraqueros (artisanal miners), semi-mechanized miners, and mechanized miners.
2. Determine the training needs of the selected participant group.
3. Examine the safety and security of the concession as it pertains to COVID-19 and the region in general.
4. Assess and survey the geology of the area, and the viability of future artisanal and small-scale gold mining on the concession.
