June’s Health Observance is Men's Health Month
The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
It’s important for men and boys to be proactive in maintaining their personal health. Statistics show, men are less likely than women to get routine physical exams and screenings. Getting screened is a smart move! Screenings are tests that look for diseases before you have symptoms. Screening can find diseases early when they're easier to treat. After a screening, ask when you will get the results and whom to talk to about them. Depending on your age, sex, and medical history, you may need to be screened (tested) for things like:
Certain Types of Cancer (Colon, Prostate, Breast)
High Blood Pressure or High Cholesterol
Diabetes
Osteoporosis or Weak Bones
STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases)
Mental Health Conditions, like Depression
Don’t delay or avoid completing an annual physical exam or screenings in 2022. When you keep your routine regular appointments and get screened, you are making a healthy choice.
