David Dorward has worked for The City of Edinburgh Council for 45 years.
On the occasion of his retirement the Rt Hon Lord Provost greeted him beside the Floral Clock and presented him with a quaich as a token of appreciation.
Since 1982 David has worked with colleagues on the design and planting of the Floral Clock which visitors and residents continue to enjoy. His last position was as Botanical Services Manager.
The Lord Provost said: “Over the years David has worked on clocks covering all sorts of designs from jubilees, war commemorations, highlighting the important work of charities to unique events such as the new millennium.
“David I wish you well in your well-earned retirement and in behalf of the citizens of Edinburgh thank you and congratulate you on your career. You will be missed. “
In 2003 the Floral Clock won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show.
