And Maastricht University (UM) does not disappoint. UM has built up a solid reputation as not only the 9th best under 50 years University but also one of the top universities in Europe in the World University Rankings.
Every year Maastricht University (UM) gets more and more international. Over 55% of the student body comprises of foreign students representing over 123 nationalities.

National rankings
- Keuzegids Universiteiten 2022: UM is the 3rd best university in the Netherlands.
The Keuzegids assess several aspects of our education. As the country’s most international university, UM scores highest in the categories international exchange and international outlook. The quality of English as the language of instruction at UM is also ranked top of the table. Most UM programmes score particularly high for their practice-oriented approach, their assessments and their curricula
6 UM bachelor's programmes received a top-Level training quality seal, 3 of which we train for at the Foundation Progarmme: Econometrics and Operational Research, Global Studies, Maastricht Science Programme, University College Venlo.
- Elsevier Best Studies 2019: 3 bachelor’s programmes of UM are ranked 1st and one 2nd.
At the Foundation Programme we prepare for 3 of them: Arts and Culture, European Studies, University College Venlo. All Maastricht colleges, including the Maastricht Science Programme, received an exceptionally high student rating.
In the annual ‘Best Studies’ edition of the Dutch magazine Elsevier, universities are ranked based on the quality and variety of their programmes, facilities, curriculum, teaching quality, testing standards and overall organization and communication.
Triple crown' of accreditations: The Maastricht University School of Business and Economics is internationally accredited by the renowned AACSB (American), EQUIS (European) and AMBA (UK), making it part of an elite group of international schools with all three accreditations. This means that graduates of the school can take their degree anywhere in the world.
The foundation programme prepares for 3 bachelor's programmes from Maastricht University School of Business and Economics: Economics and Business Economics, Business Analytics, and Econometrics and Operations Research.
