Women in Society combats gender inequity through final projects Betti Kobak

In Women in Society, students were in charge of creating activism projects that deal with gender inequity in Staples.

This group was in charge of going to the Board of Education. Seniors Ella Williams '22, Sydelle Bernstein '22, Viola Geismann '22 and Lena Pantzos '22 will sit in on a meeting and discuss why there is no Title IX coordinator at Staples, among other issues regarding sports.
This map was created by Mia Khamish '22 and displays sexual assault statistics at colleges around the country. The purpose of this map is to educate students who will be attending college soon and also to give the hotline of the Rowan Center, a sexual assault resource.
After the Invest in Yourself day on April 14, students in class took it upon themselves to craft a letter about the nutrition aspect of the day to send to the administration. Many students felt triggered and uncomfortable about the lesson, so a letter was written to address students' concerns.
Another group was in charge of creating an advertisement for the Women in Society class that will be shown in Connections classes next year. Students of all ages in the Staples community were interviewed about women's issues and the specifics of the class, and a compilation of the interviews will be featured in the video.
The same group who is going to the Board of Education made this banner during the lunch waves on May 10. The purpose of this banner was to let people in the Staples community know that they have allies with whatever struggles they are dealing with. Students painted their hands and printed them on the bannerĀ (All Photos by Betti Kobak '22).
