ECO ASPIRATIONS DAY

We are going to be holding an Aspirations Day in the Autumn Term with an 'Eco' theme. If you or anyone you know has a 'green' occupation or a career in the environmental sector, it would be fantastic if you were able to come in and talk to the children. It really helps to inspire them about the opportunities available to them in the future . If you would be willing to get involved, Mrs Coxon would love to hear from you. Please call or email on parkside.primary@eastriding.gov.uk

PRE-LOVED UNIFORM

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated uniform so far. In the Autumn Term we will be placing some bins in the outdoor classroom for parents wishing to drop off any uniform donations. These will be emptied regularly so we can hold more stalls in future.

We are particularly in need of more items in smaller sizes, so if you have any of those they would be very gratefully received.

It's important to use the latest versions of the app and and website to ensure you receive the most secure, feature-rich and enjoyable experience of Times Tables Rock Stars. Some of the versions are so far behind that they're missing out on key updates.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is vital to help children achieve and get the best possible start in life. Parkside Primary School places huge importance on attendance and punctuality and we are committed to improving achievement through attendance

All parents are legally responsible for ensuring their children receive an education in accordance with Section 7 of this Act. Each child’s attendance/absence is monitored on a weekly basis by school.

Absence from School

If your child needs to be absent from school for any reason, we ask that parents phone school before 9.15am on the first day of any absence (even if it will be unauthorised) and we have an answerphone for this purpose. If children are absent due to illness we ask that you phone again on the third and fifth days with an update.

Children who arrive after 8.55am must be signed in at the main office in the West Wing regardless of where your child’s class is located.

The school will attempt to contact with parents by phone, email and/or home visit, on a daily basis for each child whose absence is unexplained

Evidence must be provided in advance of doctors/dentist/optician/hospital appointments. Failure to provide evidence may result in your child being recorded as an unauthorised absence for the whole session. If your child is absent from school for 10 sessions through illness medical evidence should be provided to avoid the absence being marked as unauthorised and incurring a fine.

Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances

There is discretionary power held by Headteachers to authorise absence in exceptional circumstances. Please note this is not an entitlement. The Headteacher will only authorise absence in line with the East Riding Behaviour & Attendance Partnership ‘Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances’ Policy. Further details of this along with the request form can be found on our website.
