A Hard Rock In a Hard Place
.On October 17, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Hard Rock Hotel NOLA Crane collapsed in New Orleans, Louisiana. As result of the accident, three people lost their lives and 30 others have been injured. One body has been found, but two of the bodies have not. In addition, numerous businesses have lost some momentum and revenue. Sewer and water areas were shut down. The next phase consisted of a mourning period, but now the cranes have been taken down. At first, there was apprehension with the crane being taken down because of safety and engineering issues. However, the City had them taken down with explosives. There were many people who feel accountability must occur .
One spectator was Joshua. He did not want to be seen or giving details, but he stated, "There needs to be be accountability for this." Someone has to take care of three families who lost their loved ones through this tragedy. "Latoya Cantrell, the mayor of New Orleans, placed reefs at the site also. People have come far and about to look at the building.
The cranes were taken down. However, there is still more to come. Pillars of what is left of the cranes are still standing. Latoya Cantrell, the mayor, is still trying to recover the bodies, but the area that they are in is still not safe. Unfortunately, it still has to be taken down. Lawsuits are in place because 30 other people have been injured. The report claims that inadequate safety measures were not put in place. The material to support the beams was not enough. Support beams were falling also. Proactive measure could have prevented this tragedy from happening. Unskilled and unsupervised labor were a factor just to cut costs. Several workers complained before the collapse. This story just does not continue when the building comes down.
The stories of those that hold the people responsible for the collapse need to be accountable. Families are still healing. A city is still healing. This story is truly a Hard Rock in a Hard Place.
