home smart home

What exactly is a smart home? At its most basic level, a smart home is a living space with linked technology intended to improve the home. Smart thermostats, smart lights, smart plugs or outlets, smart doorbells, and locks, as well as voice assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa, are some examples.

You already have the base of your system if you have a smartphone. You can manage the temperature in your home, turn on the lights when you're not home, and even turn down the slow cooker in your kitchen using a smartphone and Wi-Fi-enabled equipment.

Aside from being extremely interesting and making life easier, a smart home can reduce energy consumption, especially for the primary energy consumers in our homes, like lighting and temperature control. Watch for more smart home articles in 2022.

Capital Credit Checks - A Benefit of Membership

The Board of Directors of Central Georgia EMC announced a capital credit refund to electric consumers who received service during the years 2002-03. The refund checks were mailed to customer-owners on December 3, 2021.

The total amount of this refund was $2,762,895, which represents the remaining margins for the year 2002 and a portion of the margins for the year 2003. The margins are used as capital until they can be returned through a general refund without impairing the cooperative’s financial condition. Capital credits are a benefit of your membership. Thank you for your patronage.

In December, the Central Georgia EMC Foundation awarded $27,400 in grants to charitable organizations in our territory.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in our service territory are invited to submit an application to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation.

Through Operation Round Up, our members support local organizations with a mission to make our communities even better places to live, work, and dream big. By simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the next dollar, you can join in! Our pennies add up to make BIG CHANGE!

Qualifying organizations are invited to submit an application to the Operation Round Up Foundation. The Foundation Board will review grant requests and administer the funds, based on the merit of each grant application and available funds.
