Library Book Sale amazes with extensive book collection PHOTOS and captions by alex gaines

From Nov. 11-14, the Westport Library hosted their biannual book sale, taking place every fall and spring. Westport residents are encouraged throughout the year to donate "gently used" books and vinyls to the library to be included in the sale. The mission of Westport Book Sales is to "raise funds to support the exceptional programming and operations of the Westport Library, while providing meaningful enjoyment for adults with disabilities."
A majority of the library's main floor was taken up with shelves and displays of thousands of books, sorted into many different topics such as "Military History" and "Biography."
Along with books, DVDs, CDs, board games and vinyl records were also sold at low prices. The CDs were sorted by sections such as pop, movies and Broadway.
The book sale was staffed by volunteers wearing signature yellow shirts. Many of these volunteers were Staples students who helped shoppers find certain sections and helped with the checkout process.
After collecting all the books shoppers wish to purchase, they were given a Book Sale Receipt noting how much all of the books and items would cost in total. This receipt is signed off by a volunteer and then brought to a separate area for checkout.
During the book sale, the library's store had a 10% off sale. This shop features fun stationary, games and accessories that you could not otherwise find in the gift shop.
Across the street at the Westport Book Shop, the sale continued with available vinyl records. The book shop is open throughout the year, and Westporters can donate used books to be sold here instead of during the big library book sales.
