The Husky's Howl Week Nine: October 31, 2022

Principal's Message

I would like to thank each parent that took the time to meet with their child's teacher last week as we hosted the Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. As teachers shared information with you about your child's progress, strengths, and goals for the year, here are a few suggested steps you could take this week to ensure that your child benefits as much as possible.

  • Tell your child what strengths his/her teacher sees in them.
  • Share something that you like about your child's teacher.
  • Share a goal that your child's teacher has for your child. Discuss how you can work together at home to support that goal.
  • Tell your child you are proud of their efforts in school reinforcing a growth mindset.
  • Email your child's teachers letting them know you appreciate what they do for your son or daughter.

When to Keep Your Child Home from School

Schools bring children into close physical contact, thus giving communicable diseases an opportunity to spread quickly. Keep your child home if he or she has any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Pain and stiffness of neck and headache
  • Sore throat
  • Swelling/tenderness of neck glands
  • Cough, if persistent and productive
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea and persistent abdominal pain
  • Jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin)
  • Rash
  • Any skin eruptions, if red, swollen and draining
  • Red or runny eyes
  • Sneezing or discharge from nose

Following the above guidelines will help prevent a child from developing possible complications and will keep the school environment a healthy one. More information about communicable diseases can be found at www.oakgov.com/health or 1-800-848-5533.
