Director's Notes

1st Grade is a year of “new”…. New school, new friends, new learning, and new fun! This session of MTC matched that 1st grade feeling perfectly. With a show we’ve never done, a different stage setup, and some MYT members who’ve moved up from the Rising Stars program to the Junior Company as well as some newcomers, session 2 was full of new fun! Between rehearsals, we participated in “MTC Room 1” activities like journaling, games, show and tell, and doing read alouds of Junie B. Jones books! These small moments created long-lasting memories that in turn also made the performance stronger by helping create characters and building a loving classroom environment. I could not have asked for a better group of performers to make up the cast of Junie B. Jones Jr. Their personalities, energy, dedication and teamwork is exactly what this show required. The Junior Company never fails to amaze and is a big reason why MTC has to raise the bar each year. I cherish every year with the Junior Company and these students of Room 1 will always have a special place in my heart. ~Nich Palumbo, director

At MYT, we love to keep raising the bar and the kids part of the Funshop have done just that. I am so proud of the work ethic and excitement they have poured into this show and brought everyday to camp. It has been simply that — fun! For two weeks we have developed our own personal show tying in the “school” theme of “Junie B Jones.” Campers have been able to work on dancing, singing, acting and the fundamentals of theater. On top of that, they also had to learn the music and dances in “Junie B Jones!” This program gave so much personal responsibility to our youngest performers and they have proven they are ready for what comes next. I am so thankful to have played a part in developing this program and can’t wait to see it develop even further next year. ~Lindsay Pytel, director
