This week, we have continued to learn to play the recorder. We also learned how to read some musical notes and about the number of beats in a bar.
In our Computing session, we had a go at another STEAM challenge.
This week, it was the Spaghetti Challenge!
We worked in our groups to see who could build the tallest, strongest structure......the only catch was that we only had 20 minutes to complete the challenge!
The structures had to hold the weight of a chocolate bar.
There were points given for the tallest and strongest structure as well as points given for the teams who worked well together.
In Art, we have continued our work on mixed media and portraits.
We used water colours to create a background for our portraits.
We then used paint to roll on a sheet of acetate to create our printing blocks.
From this, we lay our painted backgrounds down then lay the printing block on top. We then secured our portraits in place and traced the words again to print onto the backgrounds.
It was tricky not to rest on the paper as we would have smudged the black printing paint all over!
Following this, we then documented the whole process in our art sketchbooks.
We were so pleased with the finished outcomes! Aren’t they impressive?
They are being entered into a virtual exhibition and will be displayed in the hall. We want everyone to see our amazing work!
