Romeo and Juliet The Story of Love's Sorrow

Introduction

The servants come on stage and they are introduced to be from the Capulet family. The servants from the Montague family later appears and the Capulet family servants bite their thumb at them. (Thumb biting is considered an insult) They later fight with the servant of the Montague family. A riot later occures after more people of the families fight each other and the citizens start a riot against the wealthy families. The prince stops the riot and lets the people off with a warning.

Rising Action

The book introduced Romeo and shows how he has a secret love for Juliet from the other wealthy family. However, he know that she will stay a virgin for a long time. The book then introduces Paris, supposedly Juliet's future husband. Romeo and his cousin Benvolio and the Prince's relative named Mercutio goes to a masquerade hosted by the Capulet family. Romeo finds Juliet and confesses his love for her but then finds out that she is from the enemy family. They later secretly talk away the night and Romeo arranges a secret wedding for them by Friar Lawrence.

Climax

Mercutio, who was Romeo's friend and relative of the Prince, was killed by Tybalt who was Juliet's cousin. In revenge, Romeo personally slays him with his sword and then flees the scene. The Prince finds out what happened and orders Romeo to be banished. In the night, the secret wedding takes place and Romeo is now Juliet's husband in secret. Romeo later leaves Verona.

Falling Action

Juliet was later forced to be married to Paris soon and was given a sleeping potion by Fried Lawrence, that was supposed to make it seem like she was dead, and takes it in the night. Friar Lawrence gives a letter to Friar John saying to deliver it to Romeo in Mantua. Inside the letter contains the information about what happened to Juliet and how he shouldn't panic but the letter was never delivered because Friar John was stuck quarantined inside of a house. Romeo later hears that Juliet has died and he rushes back to Verona after getting a glass of poison so he can lay with Juliet.

Resolution

Paris arrives at Juliet's tomb and tries to bring her flowers but then he spots Romeo and Balthasar, Romeo's servant. Romeo enters the tomb and Paris rushes in thinking Romeo might do something bad with Juliet. Paris tries to stop Romeo but Romeo slays him, though he didn't want to. Paris begs to be laid beside Juliet and dies. Romeo opens the coffin and puts Paris in, and drinks the poison. He then kisses Juliet and dies. A while later, Friar Lawrence arrives to find Juliet waking up. He beckons her out but she refuses. They hear guards coming and Juliet stabs herself and dies.

For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
