Content Info For The Week
Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):
Students will work on solving multi-step equations and complete a challenge activity to show mastery. Students will also review graphing and identifying points on a coordinate grid.
Algebra I (Meeks):
- Monday: Scholars will complete their challenge with integer operations. -Tuesday: Scholars will complete their first MAP test of the year. -Wednesday, Thursday, Friday- Scholars will begin exploring solving equations. Starting with one-step equations and finishing with multi-step equation. Scholars will have homework this week that is due on Friday.
ELA (Styron and Bright):
This week in R180 students will use active viewing and listening strategies to build background and content knowledge about key ideas from a video, use content-area vocabulary and generate relevant examples to deepen understanding of a central content-area concept, identify the key idea of an informational text, use text evidence accurately when explaining the meaning of a text, and analyze what is clearly stated in the text and infer what is not clearly stated.
ELA (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will be continuing to prepare for our in-class novel Long Way Down. We will discuss elements of poetry and analyze examples of different kinds of poetry, including examples of Free Verse poetry.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their preparation for our in-class text The Odyssey. We will practice analyzing documents for reliability and credibility, catalogue the various roles and powers of notable Greek gods/goddesses, and discuss key background events to Homer's The Iliad.
Science (Carver and Lewis):
Students will be learning energy transformation. Students will begin the week by exploring energy transformations through stations and then we will review and complete notes toward the end of the week. Students will have a quiz on Friday.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):
This week, students will continue to explore the five geographic regions of Georgia. We will learn about the unique attractions in each region, physical features, and the importance of 2 primary rivers. By the end of the week, students will create a brochure where they pull features from Georgia that they like, as well as features that Georgia does not have in order to create their "dream state."
