Pasture Valley Newsletter December 2022 - February 2023

"Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow." - James 1:17 NLT

Family Outing

On a hot summer's day in eSwatini, all the PV kids and staff geared up for an outing to The Plaaz. It was a day filled with plenty of water and sunshine, hotdogs and ice cream. See all the pictures!

TASTE AND SEE THAT THE LORD IS GOOD. OH, THE JOYS OF THOSE WHO TAKE REFUGE IN HIM! PSALM 34:8

Christmas Party

This is definitely a highlight for the children. Many thanks to the McSeveny family and church for organising all the presents for the children - the Christmas tree was almost hidden! Eleanor also directed a beautiful nativity play, which was performed on the same day. Smiles all around.

Shopping Trips

The children had the chance to cash in their Christmas vouchers during the shopping trip. Some of the boys invested in fancy watches (let's hope it beats Africa-time), while others decided to spoil themselves with some yummy snacks. It is important for the kids to learn how to navigate shopping and manage their own money in the process.

Teams

In January, we had a team of YWAM students come visit from the YWAM base in eSwatini. They assisted with sports and games for the kids, and also attended the Christmas and New Year's parties. Shortly after, we were blessed with more visitors from Potch! We appreciate this team's constant willingness to serve and help at PV in every capacity. We hope to see them again!

Back to School

In the hopes that the pandemic is now behind us, the high-schoolers are now back at public school. They can now take part in sports teams and socialise outside of PV. Although it will be an adjustment for the kids, we are sure they are loving being back! The primary school children will continue homeschooling at PV. See below to read an excerpt from one child's application letter to Waterford next year.

Ready, Set, Sew!

Some of our PV girls are in the midst of undertaking a sewing course at Tfokotani Practical Training Centre. We are so proud of how fast they are learning the trade, and can't wait to see all they make with the skills they learn. eSwatini should be ready for some great future seamstresses!

The Girls Move Out

Some big news! Beke and Noncedo have moved out to Beke's homestead and are working in the area. Image and Gcinile have joined Lungile working at Phumula guesthouse. They also received laptops with which to continue with online studies in their time off. Very proud of these girls.

Homeschool

Meanwhile, the home-schoolers are still hard at work! The textbooks also made it to PV much earlier this year, so everyone breathes a big sigh of relief. Some of the children are continuing with TCE curriculum, while some are doing CAPS, the South African curriculum.

Support Group

The support group keeps on growing as more mothers who have special needs children join. Now there are two groups, because the room wasn't big enough to fit everyone! We thank God for continuing to provide for these incredible women.

Vamile gets Married

What an honour to be able to attend Vamile's wedding! It was such a festive occasion. Sweet Vamile has been working as a social worker as well as managing the Bambanani project. We are so happy for the couple. What an example of a godly relationship these two are for the younger generation growing up at PV.
