Peter Bobrow Producer

I specialize in telling stories that are visually stunning, emotionally captivating, and logistically challenging. I’ve produced premium verité documentary series for Netflix and Amazon, and traveled the world filming for NatGeo, Discovery, History, Travel, and A&E. I've filmed in the Alaskan wilderness, through the narco-controlled jungles of Colombia, and on the fashion runways of Paris.

I see everything as a form of creative problem solving and I love both the storytelling and the logistics. I like a challenge, and I’m always looking to push the boundaries of what is possible.

SELECTED PROJECTS

Regular Heroes, 8x30 for Amazon, Big Fish

Shot in the spring of 2020 at the height of NYC's first wave of Covid - we profiled essential workers on the frontlines of the Pandemic. We organized local shooting teams around the country in 12 different states shooting under challenging safety and social distancing protocols. Each episode featured a celebrity host giving back to support the people we profiled. Episodes were shot, edited, finished, and delivered in under two weeks and released by Amazon days later.

Lost Gold of WWII (S2), 8x60 for History, Ample

Shot at an undisclosed location in the northern Philippines - a team of investigators, treasure hunters, geophysicists, mining experts, and heavy equipment operators team up to search for buried treasure and unlock the mysteries buried deep under a secluded mountain. I lead a team of 20 international crew and 40 local hires living onsite together for months at a time.

Living Undocumented, 6x60, Netflix, IPC

A heart wrenching verité doc series following the lives of undocumented immigrants. Shot during the Trump administration's family separations - we watch as families are split apart by ICE or live in constant fear of deportation. The stories we covered made international headlines and 11 year old Stella's letter to Donald Trump was featured at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.

Finding Escobar's Millions (S2), Discovery, Blackfin

A small team of ex-DEA agents, investigators and journalists goes deep into the highlands and jungles of Colombia in search of Pablo Escobar's legacy. They find far more than they anticipate - working under narco and paramilitary controlled turf, searching for buried millions. This was an intense and harrowing journey for the whole team, with surprises including a run-in with one of Pablo's pet narco-hippos.

7 Days Out, 6x60 for Netflix, Boardwalk Pictures

Witness the excitement and drama behind the scenes in the seven days leading up to live events in the worlds of sports, fashion, space and food. We went behind the scenes at the NASA/JPL Cassini Mission, a Chanel Couture show in Paris, the Kentucky Derby, the League of Legends finals, the Westminster Dog Show, and the reopening of Eleven Madison Park, one of the top restaurants in the world.

Doomsday Preppers (S4), NatGeo, Sharp

This iconic series went deep into the psyche of Preppers anticipating the apocalypse and spawned dozens of imitators and spinoff shows. One of my contributions to the hit series was the Rabbit-Powered-Flamethrower.

Brew Dogs (S1), 7x60 for Esquire, Custom Redtail

We traveled to a new city and crafted a unique beer with local ingredients in each episode. We brewed beer on a train traveling up the Pacific Coast, while rafting down the Willamette River in Portland, and with solar reflectors on the 14,000 foot peak of Mount Evans. The show included spontaneous beer tastings, restaurant profiles, and lots of laughs. This series quickly became the top rated show on the network.

Borderland, 6x60 for Esquire, Lucky 8

We embedded with the Border Patrol's special operations team: BORTAC. We followed recruits through 'selection' and rode along on counter-narcotics missions in Texas and Arizona. We got an up-close look at the border in all its complexity and controversy in this action-packed series.

Go For Sisters, Directed by John Sayles

Director John Sayles asked me to produce his most recent thriller/road trip film shot in the US and Mexico. The film stars Edward James Olmos, Yolonda Ross, and LisaGay Hamilton and includes cameos by Mahershala Ali and Harold Perrineau. We filmed over 65 scripted locations in 4 cities in the US and Mexico in just 19 shoot days with a budget of under 1 million. It was an honor to pull off such a feat with one of my early heroes of cinema. The film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.

Dead End Express (8 X 60) for NatGeo, Original Media.

Shot over 6 months off the grid in Alaska, and the Western US. We traveled by bush plane and snowmobile in the frozen Alaskan wilderness, on horseback in the Flathead Mountains of Montana, and up class 5 rapids by jet boat on the Snake River in Idaho, delivering essential supplies to those who live 100's of miles from civilization.
