Who are they?

The target group includes everyone irrespective of age and sex, who reside in Cyprus and have an old or second hand computer and do not wish to throw it away but would rather recycle it or offer it for reuse.

What do they need?

The immediate symptoms of the problem are initially the accumulation of a large number of computer waste, as well as the contribution to increased environmental pollution. However, there are also other symptoms in this problem, because in order to collect and store these computers, there needs to be a lot of storage space. Finally, computers end up in landfills in the long run, contributing to the general problem of waste in Cyprus, with the result that Cyprus does not meet the objectives set by the European Union. What is needed is a facility to encourage people to reuse and recycle their old computers, which currently does not exist in Cyprus.

IDEATE

1. Encourage educational institutions to exchange for purposes of reuse.

2. Recycle or exchange parts (e.g. hard drive).

3. Create poster: Information on computer reuse and recycling.

4. A borrowing service.

5. Creating an online platform in social media to encourage people on an individual basis to recycle and reuse older computers.
