Learning round-up
This week in year 3 we have had so much fun! It’s been great completing our votes for schools together as a whole year group and spending time reading and discussing vocabulary as a whole group. We enjoyed learning about anti-bullying week and wearing odd socks, we know it’s important to be kind and stand up when we think something is unfair. We’ve all been making amazing progress with reading and all of the teachers are so impressed with our understanding of our current text ‘Stuck’. Well done year three!
This week Year 4 have been working hard and doing some excellent writing for our Amber writes in our portal story unit. We have really thought creatively about portals and where our portals could take us. Maths has also seen a lot of effort, especially lots of times table practise on ttrs. Well done Pine for winning the tournament! In History we were excited to start learning about Julius Caesar and thought deeply about some questions we wanted to ask him.
Willow have had an interesting week learning about the creation of fossils. They have also been able to express their dramatic skills when performing parts of our poetry, The Day War Came. The children really understood the emotion behind the poetry. We have also took part in anti-bullying week and it is lovely to see how caring and understanding the children are and they know who is there to support them in school if needed. Well done Willow keep up the good work.
A FABULOUS WEEK! Sequoia class have worked incredibly hard and shown great concentration and determination with learning tasks. The children really enjoyed finding out about how fossils are formed in Science and worked hard to develop their scientific vocabulary further. In reading we created a powerful class performance of the poem we are studying - The Day the War Came. Children thought carefully about their intonation and expression and really connected with the poem. There have also been some wonderful displays of kindness and teamwork this week. Well done!
This week year 6 have enjoyed a visit from Cummins, who showed them how maths and coding are used to control robots. Acer have had an amazing experience programming robots, using computer software, to complete various tasks. They took on board everything they were taught and worked effectively as a team. Well done Acer!!
This week, children have been working hard in Maths learning how to multiply a two digit by a two digit number as well as a three digit number by a two digit number. In our Talk for Writing sessions, we have been writing a diary entry in the role of Enola, who is our main character in our model text that we have been looking at. Year 6 also worked with Cummins this week taking part in a number of STEM activities.
