Ingoldsby Academy Update October 2021

Thank you for your support over a busy half term and myself and all the staff would love to wish you a fabulous half term. We have had a number of bugs and Covid-19 cases these past few weeks so we hope that everyone recovers and has chance to get a break.

A warm Ingoldsby welcome goes to Miss Gray and Miss McGarrity who are training in Kestrel and Falcon class this term.

You can sign up for next term's clubs here:

If your child has been selected for after school tuition, counselling or nurture provision next term, you will be contacted directly at the start of term.

You can sign up for parents evening appointments now on MCAS. These will be held in school on the 8th November.

Swimming continues for year 5 and 6 next term.

Bikeabilty is running for those children who signed up, on the 1st and 2nd Dec.

19th November- Non school uniform for children in need. The theme is pyjamas!

A message from Rev. Anna Sorenson:

Lunchboxes

We have noticed an increase in packets of sweets in packed lunches. We ask parents not to send sweets or full sized chocolate bars and to limit the number of treats to 1 per day. Morning snack is fruit only please. NHS Change for Life suggests swapping cakes, chocolate, cereal bars and biscuits for malt loaf, fruited teacakes, fruit breads or fruit (fresh, dried or tinned – in juice not syrup).

Staying safe online:

Squid Game’s 15 rating has not prevented clips and images from the show being uploaded onto social media sites such as TikTok, with the #SquidGame hashtag being viewed more than 22.8 billion times. There have been reports of children who have accounts on these platforms inadvertently viewing gory, explicit scenes from the programme, and parents and carers should be mindful of the prevalence of these uploads.

If you see your child replicating the challenges from the show or hear them talking about scenes and characters from Squid Game, it would be a timely opportunity to discuss with them that the programme is not intended for children, that much of the content would be inappropriate for their age, and that the violence in the series is very realistic and often upsetting.

Have a lovely half term and we'll see you all on Monday 1st November!
