Principal's Message

Lake Pleasant Families,

Silverhawk's were busy as we finished up another great week of learning! This week we focused on the O in S.O.A.R. which stands for organized. Our announcement club did a great job giving some tips for our students on the importance of this important trait while around campus. Hopefully your child was able to pull at least one that they can work on.

On Friday, I joined the students and I decided to share an important quote on perseverance. It referenced that when we face a challenge we are in total control of two things: Attitude and Effort. I focused on effort as building that stamina to learn and persevere is so difficult but crucial to growing and learning. I shared that when it comes to attitude, a positive one always helps not only you but others as well. When an individual has a "we can do this" attitude, it can inspire others to join and then there is no limit to what can be accomplished. I then started a new segment called "Friday Funnies" and boy did this week's joke get tons of laughs!

I appreciate the hard work our staff and students do on a daily basis and I cannot wait to see the great accomplishments they can achieve this year!

Have a great week Silverhawks,

Aaron Bagwell

Proud Principal

DROP OFF/PICK UP REMINDERS

The picture above paints a great picture of what can happen at arrival/dismissal times. We have some procedures in place that are helping us get kids home safely and quickly but we are seeing some challenges recently. Please remember that the K-3 pick up is on the north side of school while the 4-8th grades are in the front of the school. If you would like to park and walk up to get your child, you will need to park across the street and walk to th basketball courts through the park.

We have been getting concerns about our bus loop as a few of us are entering the bus gate and parking in the handicap spots to drop/off or pick up students. This poses a safety issue as our buses need to exit that loop and we do not wish to have a head on collision. If you are picking up your child and do not have a handicap decal please utilize the line above that applies to your student/s. We have been able to get those lines cleared in under 10 minutes currently so it should not take long to get everyone picked up safely. Thank you in advance for following these safety rules.

Here you will find pictures of kids learning or being recognized along with staff recognitions as well!

MRS. WALTRIP SURPRISED THIS WEEK!

Big thank you for community member Steve Cushing from Remax for coming by and surprising our amazing resource teacher Mrs. Waltrip. With the staffing shortages we have experienced she has worked hard to ensure our meetings are scheduled, IEP's are written and organizing our support staff. Thank you for the countless hours spent getting us ready for the school year!

APPLE BOAT STEM ACTIVITY FOR KINDERGARTEN

Students worked in groups and came up with a plan of how they were going to make their apple boat and then tested it to see if it would indeed float. We then used our engineering mindset's to make changes and test again. Looks like a lot of fun!

6TH GRADE ROLLERCOASTER DESIGNERS

Our 6th graders were working on kinetic and potential energy this week. Students had to create momentum and velocity for the roller coasters to be successful. They designed and strategically implemented hills, curves, loops, tunnels and height just to name a few. Cardstock roller coasters were built first with masking tape and then made straw roller coasters so that they could compare and contrast.

Students used the CER Method (Claim, Evidence, Result) and made modifications as needed. They documented their work as they made continued improvements. Way to go 6th Graders!

4TH GRADERS LEARNING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CHARACTER TRAITS

Students in Mrs. Hager's class are working on character traits. These are traits that help the reader find out what they are, how they help make a story interesting, and give understanding to the story. The students wrote some character traits of their partner. 😀
