The Captain is bold!
And so is the light! Strong shadows and bright light helps to tell the story of cocktails that go beyond the expected. For this project, I will utilize light that is loud, bold, fresh, and natural. Sunny feelings contrast with cool shadows to connect emotionally with the viewer.
Below are several images from previous assignments that we think are applicable to your project.
For this assignment, we will create a custom wood surface - hand-painted using brand-inspired colors and a whitewashed brick wall for the background. This will create our background plate from which everything else will be built upon.
May I suggest, rather than shooting everything in situ and then removing elements to create the various plates. What if we shot each element, including the bottle - on a gray seamless with natural shadows, so that it could then be placed anywhere on the background. This approach will allow us maximum flexibility, not only when creating horizontal and vertical compositions, but for additional uses beyond the requested execution.
Above and below are examples of a "hard light look" we created for Jimmy John's. These were all shot on a neutral background and then colors were added in post.
The Bacardi bottle was also shot on a gray background.
