La Mano Peluda by Gabriela paz

La Mano Peluda or "The Hairy Hand" is said to belong to a Mayan shaman or so is told, who was tortured and killed during the inquisition of Mexico, chopped up and buried in an old Indian cemetery.
Some variations of the story say that before the hand was chopped off, the shaman casted a spell on it before being buried.
Only his hand came back to life, and lurks in the darkness under the bed of misbehaved children, hoping to grab them by the ankle and drag them to who knows where.
True or not, this folk tale is used to strike fear in mischievous, bratty, and wandering children. Often saying, "La Mano Peluda te va agarrar!"(The Hairy Hand is going to get you!). the legend is used the same way El Cucuy is used. In Mexico, it is believed that it comes at night and waits for you under the bed.
