A Message from Miss Prokipczuk
As we come to the end of this school year, I'd like to thank each and every one of our school community: the children for being hard-working and such a joy to teach; the staff for their dedication and commitment to the school; the governors for all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes; the trust for all the support that they have given to the school, and you as parents for your support and partnership. The whole school community has once again pulled together this year.
There are always some goodbyes at the end of each academic year and this year we are saying goodbye to a fantastic group of year 6 pupils - we wish you well as you move onto your next schools and I hope you take a little piece of our school with you on your journey.
We are also saying goodbye to Miss Jenkison, Miss Wormleighton and Mrs Thompson. We wish you all the very best for the next steps in your careers.
I wish you all a lovely summer break and look forward to seeing the children when school re-opens on Tuesday 30th August.

Sports Day 2022
A fantastic afternoon of sporting fun was had by all! Thank you to Mrs Bostock and her team of helpers from Oak and Birch Classes for organising a variety of entertaining races.
Well done Year 6 children and parents - a brilliant 3-legged race!
Thank you to our PTA for organising the much needed ice lollies for after the events.
The PTA will be organising an event per term for the coming year. We will provide dates for the diary and advise what the funds we raise will be going towards in the next newsletter.
Any sponsorships, volunteers would be hugely welcomed and if anyone would like to be added to the PTA WhatsApp group please send your number to the school office and we can add you on.
We are aiming to create a relaxed and fun PTA where we raise valuable money and support for the school which will benefit our children; the experiences they have and the environment they are in whilst at Ullesthorpe Primary School.

We wish the following children a very happy birthday this Summer
Millie A, Lottie, Emily J, Ewan, Joshua C, Harry H, Oliver B, Arthur, Charlie H, William S, Albert, Michael, Harvey, Oliver A, Alfie L, William H, Harry G
Thank you for supporting this event we raised £43.
Willow Class
Willow Class have been busy learning all about castles. They took a virtual tour around Windsor Castle, it was amazing! They were fascinated to hear that the queen still lives there and they were keen to find out about its history.
We made castle shields that would tell others about ourselves, aren't they brilliant?
The children made their very own castles too, using junk modelling materials. Some even added a drawbridge.
The children also told their own castle scene stories using story language. We plan on telling our stories to Maple Class later this week.
They have also had fun keeping cool on the very hot days. We had ice creams for sale.

Maple Class
In Maple class we have been doing lots of work on food chains in science!
We went into the playground and used chalk to make our own food chains. The children were given one animal (consumer) that had to be in the chain and then built around it to include the producer and more consumers.
We have been completing script reading in English.
The children produced some delightful performances of Little Red Riding Hood and even began using expression and changing their pitches to match the character!
This term, Maple class had a special visitor called Toby. We really enjoyed learning all about Toby and producing fact files about tortoises after. He was a lot speedier than we expected and his little accident definitely made the children giggle! Thank you to the Hextalls for bringing Toby to see us, we hope he enjoyed his trip out as much as we did!

Birch Class
This term we have been looking at states of matter in Science and made mini water worlds to show the water cycle.
They didn’t work as well as we had hoped but we could see the different parts of the cycle in some of them (evaporation, condensation, precipitation).
In art we made pictures using natural materials we found in the school grounds. We hope you agree that our pictures are amazing!
On transition day the new Birch class had a fun morning sharing their thoughts about reading. They also tackled our class challenge of building a bridge out of newspaper and tape that would hold the weight of a book.

Oak Class
We have had a super-busy last few weeks of term in Oak Class.
The children wowed audiences with their amazing performances of the musical play 'Darwin Rocks!' The acting and singing was fantastic - Oak Class definitely rocks!
A big well done must be said to the whole class for their brilliant work on the preparation for and running of sports day this year.
Year 6 Go Ape at Coombe Abbey for a special end of year treat
We scaled the dizzy heights...
... and had fun taking part in team building games alongside our friends from Sharnford CE Primary School
Meanwhile, back at school, Year 5 were designing, making, packaging and advertising their own chocolates. Delicious!
Year 5 have also had a great time with some super sporting fun!
Giant badminton was fun and so was the football target practise!
Darwin Rocks!
We wish all our Year 6 pupils all the very best for the future. Good Luck guys!
