TOMMY WÁ EPK

BIOGRAPHY

Voiced with deep passion and soul, Tommy WÁ is artfully establishing his sound direction through Afro soundscapes, deriving his sound texture from a blend of contemporary African Folk, Indie and retro-soul music. His musical cocktail efficiently travels the expanse of Tommy WÁ’s Nigerian roots and caters to the musical cravings of Accra, the Ghanaian cosmopolis where he is based.

Live, Tommy WÁ is hauntingly mesmerizing – whether solo or with his band. Evidence of this is the past years which has seen the roadman engage a global audience with recent live appearances including BASSLINE Festival and ACCESS 2021 in Johannesburg, Pop-Kultur 2022, Berlin and an intimate series of boutique tours in London, Oxford, Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.

On the heels of his recent sold out headline show Accra, Tommy WÁ released his ‘Roadman and Folks’ EP which can be streamed across all platforms now. This latest body of work is a collection of the last 3-5 years of wanderlust experiences from his life, family, friends and neighbours.

He has cited Michael Kiwanuka, Beautiful Nubia, Brittany Howard, Asa, Benjamin Clementine and Bon Iver amongst others, as his influences. He prides himself with remaining fluid enough to redefine preconceived notions of what music produced in Africa sounds like.
