Fire Prevention

We celebrated Fire Prevention Week in October. The West Glendive Fire Department came out and presented to our students on how to be safe in case of a fire and how to prevent them. Students were given the opportunity to see firefighters in their gear and see a fire truck. Thank you to the West Glendive Fire Department for taking the time to teach our dino-mites all about fire prevention!

Friday School

At Jefferson, Friday School looks a bit differently than at other schools in our district. Your child's teacher might reach out to you asking for your child to attend from 8-9 am on Fridays. They will specify if this is for one week or if your child would benefit from every week. This is truly a huge benefit for our students. They get one on one or very small group instruction from their teachers in the areas they need more support in. It looks different depending on the student, but it is a great way for them to get specific support in a small amount of time which is developmentally appropriate for the age of students we have here at Jefferson. Busing is available to get students here at 8 am but not to go home at 9 as the other schools run Friday school longer. If you are in need of transportation for your child, please reach out to the office at 406-377-4155.

Winter Clothing

As winter has quickly approached and arrived, you might have replaced winter gear from last year that your child outgrew. If you don't have a use for outgrown winter gear, at Jefferson we will gladly take it off your hands. We would love to be able to repurpose some of these items to some of our students who are needing them. We also have a very small reserve of winter coats here for students who forget theirs. As it continues to get colder, we would love to have a larger stash and to be able to help unused winter wear find a new home. We are looking for winter coats, snow pants, and snow gloves. We have some of the knit gloves but our students like to play in the snow and they get wet really quickly. Feel free to send any of these items that you would like to donate with your child or drop them off at the front office. If your child is in need of winter items, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or email coovertc@glendiveschools.org. Thank you in advance for helping us to support our kids!

Gold Coin Assembly

Our first quarter Gold Coin Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15th at 2:00pm. These normally last about 30 minutes. A big thank you goes out to Stockman Bank for providing and presenting the gold coins to our students who have met their reading goal for the quarter. Another thank you to Mrs. Geiger for organizing these events! We love celebrating students' love for reading and the hard work these kids show by meeting their goals! If your child has earned a gold coin, their teacher will let you know. This is typically for first and second grade students especially this early in the year.

Homecoming

Our first and second grade students participated in the All Schools Assembly to celebrate homecoming this year. We had a blast at the football stadium playing games and showing school spirit!

Fundraiser

The PTA ran a fundraiser for Jefferson and Lincoln this fall. The money raised will go directly to upgrades for our playground. This need was identified by the staff of the building and agreed upon by our students. Our amazing families raised $7,269.65 for the Jefferson playground plus a very generous $500 donation! Thank you to everyone who shared and helped spread the word about this fundraiser. It is truly appreciated!

Our top three sellers from the fundraiser and the prizes they received.

Food Drive

For the month of November, Jefferson will be participating in a food drive. The food donated will be delivered to our local Food Bank who has been struggling to keep shelves stocked. If you would like to participate, send in non-perishable food items to school in the month of November. If you are in need, please email schultzd@glendiveschools.org or send in the bottom portion of the flyer that went home. We want to make sure we are supporting our students in the very best way that we can! Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community!

Potato Parade

The second graders put on a potato parade again this year. Students made a potato look like a character from a book. The amount of creative potato characters that were on display was nothing short of incredible! Thank you for helping us create excitement and a love for reading in new ways!
