A Fresh New Look The 100th Force Support Squadron GET UP & GO! magazine

We have focused solely on our digital channel which has improved our product and created more frequent consumers reading the GET UP & GO!

Our strategy was to create a clear bold design with engaging content to keep customers returning every month.

GET UP & GO! August 2020

The GET UP & GO! magazine's function is to promote facility events and services for the upcoming month and beyond. Our main objective was to spread the word about all the great happenings across the base, which our facilities work hard to provide and help them become the success they deserve.

GET UP & GO! September 2020

Our GET UP & GO! September issue was a double cover special with a re-release of the magazine. The extra cover featured an illustration by Bruce Richardson to promote the upcoming "Mil-D-Con" event and the "Create a Super Hero/Villain" competition which became very popular. A time-lapse video of the cover creation was also used to promote the event and competition.

Research for each issue required our team to look at the month ahead and create content related to the month’s big event or seasonal information to encourage readers to follow our links and read through the magazine.

The video content our Marketing Department produced for virtual events like "Mil-D-Con" was placed within magazine pages, which created a more interactive, fun and informative magazine.

GET UP & GO! October 2020

Due to Covid-19, our magazine has been forced to be solely published digitally. Our challenge was to create a fresh new look for the GET UP & GO! The goal was to increase digital magazine readership and make it a great product for our audience to consume.

Magazine graphics and mock-ups are created for each issue to send out through our social media channels with a full-screen direct link to the latest magazine. Digital display screen platforms placed strategically within 100 FSS busiest facilities promoted the recent month's issue which is also available to read and download on our website, 100FSS.com

The new design needed to generate excitement across the squadron, becoming a more screen-friendly, visually appealing and interactive magazine. Our aim was to improve the squadron's facility consumer reach and provide them with the information needed.

Our team publishes the GET UP & GO! through the online service "ISSUU" - this saves time preparing files for print and is instantly available to our audience.

GET UP & GO! November 2020

Using the skills of staff across our small department we hoped to publish a refreshingly different creative magazine. These skills included: design, typography, illustration, photography and video.

As the GET UP & GO! magazine is now only published digitally, we had the opportunity to be more experimental with the content. So, each month we aim to include several articles to break-up the facility pages, making the content easier to digest for consumers.

Digital publishing has been a great way to carry on sending out the GET UP & GO! to our consumers stuck at home during the Covid-19 lockdowns.

We began working with the base historian to design an "RAF Mildenhall Heritage" or "RAF History" spread with interesting information and images from RAF Mildenhall's historic past.

The digital GET UP & GO! magazine has gone beyond all our expectations and has been well received across base and social network groups.

  • The first issue received over 225% more online reads than the previous digital magazine.
  • Since adding the new articles we gained an average of 20% more readers from the first new issue.
  • Publishing the GET UP & GO! digitally each month has saved the squadron over $7,500 annually.
