Our topic is Malcolm X and the Black Power Movement. The Black Power Movement was the progress made by African Americans in the 1950's and the 1960's at achieving the civil rights. One of the main black nationalist leaders was Malcolm X. One of his great philosophies was that there is nothing wrong with using violence if it is necessary.

Malcolm X was a prominent black nationalist leader and served as a spokesman for the Nation of Islam.
He was an African American Muslim minister and human rights activist.
He was one of the most influential African Americans in history.
Malcolm X was assassinated in February 21, 1965 where he had been preparing to deliver a speech.
The Black Power Movement was a political slogan and a name for various associated ideologies aimed at achieving self-determination for people of African/ Black descent.
The Black Power Movement expresses a range of political goals, from defense against racial oppression, to the establishment of social institutions & a self-sufficient Economy.

Historical connection

Malcolm X was one of the greatest factors of the black power movement. Although he was thought as public enemy because he used violence as one of his tactics. He convinced blacks to fight back against the nation. The Black Power Movement was seen as one of the most impacting black progression periods. It will forever be a huge impact on how African American live today.
