Food & Theater A Cultural Trip

For my Day of Discovery I attended the Cultural Authenticity trip which consisted of a dinner at Via Farina and a showing of The Chinese Lady at the Blue Barn Theater.

At Via Farina we were served a variety of authentic Italian Food. There were four courses, consisting of salad, appetizer, pasta, and then a pizza.

We also got to sit with each other and we were served “family style” which made the experience much more enjoyable.

All the amazing people I sat with.
A layout of the amazing food.

The salad was a version of a caesar salad with kale and homemade croutons.

The next food was a take on risotto. The dish consisted of fried risotto balls covered in marinara sauce. The next thing was pasta with real tomato sauce and cheese on a traditional noodle.

Last but not least they served us fresh margarita pizza straight from their stone oven.

All of this food was amazing and a great experience. I will definitely be coming back to Via Farina after all the delicious food I had.

The next stop on the trip was to go right next door to the Blue Barn Theater to see the play The Chinese Lady. The Chinese Lady is a show about the first ever Chinese woman to come over to America. The show illustrates how she was treated by everyday people and even by American leaders. It was a fabulous show with a two person cast and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more.

The stage before the show

The interior of the of the Blue Barn was vibrant and stunning. With hundreds of print out posters from their past shows and just some amazing art, the interior was something to explore.

Some of the beautiful décor.

But the best part of the interior had to be the bathroom. It sounds strange but it’s so true. The bathroom had a wall full of mirrors and a panorama painting across the stalls.

The theater itself was also very nice and well made. The stage was small but worked very well for the production. The seats were also very comfortable.

My view from my seat.

The show was amazing and the food was amazing. This whole trip was amazing and so much fun to be apart of. I am so glad that Day of Discovery was able to happen and I am really happy with the choice I made to go on this trip.
