WHO COMPETES IN THE SCCVL?

The Southern California Collegiate Volleyball League (SCCVL) is designed to provide opportunities and resources for college club volleyball teams to compete locally, regionally, and nationally.

Who competes in the SCCVL?

The SCCVL will serve 70 teams from 28 different universities spanning from Southern California, Arizona, and Utah

Each university has a men's and/or women's program along with the possibility of competing as two-three teams per gender.

How it works

The League Structure

Each team is placed into one of three divisions and regions. Each division is based on a team's competitive level and longevity in the league. Each region is established by geographic proximity to other universities.

League play consists of three weekends of competition where every team plays each other throughout the Spring.

Teams then qualify for the league championships and compete for the title of the best in Southern California

NCVF

The National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) is the governing body for collegiate club volleyball. Similar to the NCAA, the NCVF provides rankings, resources, and runs the NCVF National Championship Tournament.

2024 proved to be another dominate year with UC Los Angeles Women - A defeating SCCVL companion Utah Valley University - A to claim the NCVF D1 Championship.

In 2023 University of Southern California Women - A defeated fellow SCCVL rival UC Los Angeles - A in the Division 1 championships. UC San Diego Men - A won the Division 1AAA National Championship.

In 2022 UC Santa Barbara Men - A won the Division 1 National Championship. The University of Arizona Men - B won the Division 3 National Championship.

San Diego State Men's A were back-to-back Division I champions in 2017 and 2018. UC Santa Barbara Men's B were the Division III champions in 2018. Loyola Marymount Women were the D1AAA Champions in 2019.

50% of the SCCVL teams in attendance made it to the Gold Bracket of their respective division.

Triple Crown Series

Where the Best Come to Compete

The Triple Crown Series (TCS) was formed to bring national powerhouse programs to compete in Southern California. All TCS events are endorsed and sanctioned by the NCVF.

At all of the TCS events, teams will compete against nationally ranked opponents, see competition outside their region, and receive prizes and swag from tournament sponsors.

There is no better way to start off the season than competing in the Fall Classic. The Fall Classic is hosted in November and is the premier tournament to compete in when returning to campus with your team.

The MLK Invite has attracted teams from North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and programs from all over California. This two day event during MLK weekend provides teams an opportunity to get an early gauge as to where their team stacks up nationally.

The West Region Challenge is the pinnacle of the TCS and has become one of the most sought after tournaments in the country. This rankings tournament has been called a mini-national tournament and teams leave the West Region Challenge ready to compete for a national title.

Teams have traveled from New York, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and all over California to compete to be the best in the west.

CBVT

The Collegiate Beach Volleyball Tour (CBVT) was created to provide year round competition on the beach for college club teams. In the inaugural 2019 season, over 12 different universities competed over five weekends of play.

The CBVT crowned pairs and university champions at Huntington Beach November 2019. UC San Diego Women and UC Santa Barbara Men were the inaugural CBVT University Champions.

In the 2024 tour, the CBVT has over 20 different universities competing in our League and Open Events

SET Program

The SCCVL has created the Successful Education Training (SET) Program to help mentor and guide club presidents through the responsibilities and tasks necessary to run their teams successfully. Our team is ready to provide direction and advice on what it takes to run tryouts, fundraise, organizing practices, and more.

Videos and handouts are sent throughout the Summer to help prepare incoming presidents of the roles and responsibilities required to run their club smoothly

sponsors

The SCCVL and the CBVT are fortunate to have amazing sponsors donating prizes and swag for tournament and league participants.

Through the partnership with Ren Athletics, all SCCVL teams receive massive discounts on custom uniforms and apparel for their teams. Ren Athletics also provides prizes for League and Triple Crown Series Champions along with All-Tournament Team swag.
Molten Volleyball is the official volleyball of the SCCVL. Each season, Molten donates ball bags, mini volleyballs, and official volleyballs as prizes for tournament champions. Molten also provides discounted rates for teams to order the best volleyballs on the market.
Blenders Eyewear took care of all CBVT Champions at each tour stop with sunglasses for the top 3 finishers. On top of that, all CBVT and SCCVL participants can receive 25% off Blenders Sunglasses.
Neso Tents is another major sponsor of the CBVT. At each tournament, Neso donated tents for the athletes to hangout in while they were not competing and protect them from the sun. The tournament champions walked away with the tents as prizes!
Slunks keeps is retro on the beach for our top winners at our CBVT events. The flashy, creative, and sustainable company helps our athletes looks fresh while also doing their part to help the environment.
