A Civil War recreation in Minecraft to help fund the American Battlefield Trust on November 11th, 2022!

Throughout the Civil War, brave soldiers fought on historic lands in the U.S. Let’s spread the word of the importance of historic preservation through a 3D representation built in the world of Minecraft of the Battle of Vicksburg that took place May 18 - July 4, 1863. Built brick by brick, relive one of the major battles in Civil War the way you see fit—with acts of bravery and a small dose of chicanery in a map filled with mini-games and event recreations.

The American Battlefield Trust strives to preserve hallowed battlegrounds and educate people on the importance of those historic lands. More than 55,000 acres in 24 states have been saved to date. Read more about their mission here.

Our Work at Vicksburg National Military Park

The heavy rains and mudslides of 2020 washed away significant portions of the road that rings the battleground, endangering several markers and interpretive sites, causing sinkholes hundreds of feet deep and buckling park roads or washing entire hillsides away in the Vicksburg National Cemetery, displacing and exposing remains of dozens of U.S. soldiers. These historic resources—that are normally open and accessible to heritage tourists, school groups and residents alike—are roped off and inaccessible.

While the park has made strides to make the park safe and accessible to the public, very little has been done to stabilize, rebuild, and reopen these portions of the historic battleground. We need your help.
