Firm Foundations, Evolving Excellence
In 2018-19, Salisbury Academy launched our Firm Foundations, Evolving Excellence strategic plan addressing specific goals to enhance and improve the areas of People, Program, Place, and Finance. Over the last three years, the school undertook considerable work by engaging with our stakeholders and our community to identify next steps.
Deep Dives for Today into the Future
Our Board regularly reviews progress made on our strategic plan and has identified four areas of “Deep Dives” that our school community will engage in next as part of this plan. Areas of focus include our current campus master plan and space needs as well as opportunities to further engage with our community through significant partnerships and expanding services.
These four Deep Dives will:
Finalize our Campus Master Plan
to address the need for additional space and updates to our facilities to improve the efficiency, cohesion, and beauty of our campus.
Expand our Academic Support Program
to centralize learning support and provide teachers, parents, and our community with resources.
Partner with our Community
to launch the Horizons National Program, an academic and enrichment program serving children from under-resourced communities on the campuses of independent schools.
Develop a Financial Model that Sustains and Improves the School Over Time
with the goals of accessibility and affordability to the Salisbury Academy experience.
Salisbury Academy is well positioned to build upon its long-standing commitment to excellence in all areas of its program. The culture, teaching approach, and mission of Salisbury Academy center around empowering students to love learning and developing the whole child: academically, socially, spiritually, and physically. We deliver on this philosophy by providing an enriching and experiential learning environment, a nurturing school community, and an arena where children are challenged to discover and pursue their talents, passions, and interests.
These areas of Deep Dives outline an exciting path to guide SA towards the next level of program excellence and will propel us toward a deeper understanding of community, connections, and service to others. Finally, through strengthening the financial underpinnings of the institution, the plan positions Salisbury Academy to continue serving students and families for many years to come.
High School Study: Update
As part of the Firm Foundations, Evolving Excellence strategic plan, Salisbury Academy conducted various focus groups and feedback sessions around the goal of expanding the Salisbury Academy experience into a high school model. We heard a deep level of interest from our stakeholders and the greater community in this vision for a dynamic learning environment as well as a desire to offer this in partnership with local education partners.
While significant progress in this goal was made, the impact of COVID has required us to revisit our initial timeline and further study partnership opportunities. This remains a goal for Salisbury Academy moving forward.
