Young Voices - Monday 16th May
On Monday, the school choir attended the Young Voices concert at Birmingham. It was an absolutely phenomenal day and the children were just amazing! We had lots of singing, dancing and laughter and it was such a good feeling to be part of a huge choir. Thank you to the parents that also came along, it was fabulous that we were able to share the experience with you. A massive thank you also goes to Mrs Humphrey and Mr Hole who have worked so hard with the children to learn so many songs! As always, the children were a delight to take out on a trip and their behaviour and positive attitudes were fab! We can't wait to do it again next year!
We have set up a new Twitter account for our school. This will enable us to give you updates on what the children are learning in the school day, updates on school trips and residentials. Follow us on @IshamPrimary.
KS2 Tennis Competition
On Wednesday this week, two teams of 10 children from Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 took part in the Kettering School Sports Tennis Skills competition, held at Kettering Tennis Club. Year 3/4 team competed first during the morning. Each child had a total of two minutes on six different skills stations. Their scores were recorded by our Young Leaders, Roxie and James, totalled, and an average taken to give our team score. At the end of the competition we all gathered to hear the results - and Isham were the winners! They will now represent Kettering at the County finals.
Well done Freddie, Matthew, Codey, Spencer, Finn, Mollie, Cleo, Alyssia and Ava R. Thank you for your effort, determination and self belief!
On the same afternoon it was the turn of the Year 5/6 team. They followed a similar format although the skills required were more challenging. Again, Roxie and James were on hand to count, record and calculate scores. We gathered to hear the results at the end, and again, Isham came out on top!
Well done to Noah B, Harry, Ed, Noah E, Stanley, Ava, Kate, Ezme, Megan and Poppy, you now have to do it all again at the County finals!
We have been preparing for the competitions in PE over the past few weeks, and last week I staged an Intra-school Tennis Skills competition for Yr 3/4 and Yr5/6 during their PE lessons. The individual winners will be announced in Celebration Assembly this week!
Mrs J
The EYFS team and children would love if the EYFS parents could join them for an informal stay and play session. Please confirm your attendance to Mrs Hughes. We can't wait for you to visit!
On Friday 27th May we will be hosting a special picnic in the playground in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and we would love to invite you along! If you are coming, please bring a picnic in for your child and your family. If you are not coming, please send your child an additional lunchbox with some picnic food so they can also join in. Tea and coffee will also be provided from the school hall. It will start at 2.15pm. On the day, go to your child's class to pick them up and then get settled at a table or bring a blanket to sit on in the playground. All the children will be dressed up ready for a party and wearing their crowns (the children will have made this in school already so don't worry about needing to buy one). There will be music playing and a few games for the children to play. We hope you can make it!
On Thursday 26th May, at 9am we will be hosting a music assembly in which the children who currently attend music lessons will be showcasing what they have learnt. For those parents who have received an invite for this, please come to school at 9am where you will be seated in the hall.

Technology changes at such a rapid pace that it can be hard to keep up with the latest trends. The resources below are an invaluable way of making sure you know as much as your children. You are the first line of defence in keeping your children safe online – our aim is to encourage and support you to become involved in this process so that they are receiving the best protection they can – you can’t eliminate the dangers but you can reduce them!

Reflection Time
This week in collective worship, continuing the school value of respect, the children learnt about The Calling of Matthew - this looked at how Jesus is inclusive and wants everyone to feel loved, and we all deserve to be treated with respect. This was then followed up by Rachel Newman, the Children and Families Minister from the Baptist Church in Burton Latimer who looked at "Ohana" (Hawaiian term meaning "family"). She related this to us all being part of Jesus' inclusive family.
