Principal's Message

Lake Pleasant Families,

I hope everyone had a great Fall Break and a restful and fun Thanksgiving. By far this holiday is my favorite as it involves three important things to me...Family, Food and Football! As we wrap this break up, our staff is preparing for the final 4 weeks of the semester. This also is a terrific opportunity to reflect on your yearly goals to figure out at the midpoint how we are progressing toward our goals. Goals are important to set at the beginning, but most importantly we need to consistently check and adjust them. When it comes to learning we must constantly strive to overcome challenges and we will be successful. The more we can recognize and celebrate those small wins, it makes it easier to hit those large wins at the end of the year. No doubt by working together we can help our students meet and rise above their potential.

On the last day before break, I read a quote about Integrity. It said, "Integrity is not something you show to others, it's how you behave behind their back." I feel that by helping our students understand integrity and how it can help them make positive choices is a wonderful way to help us have a positive culture of shared success. We would love for our students to make good choices when adults are not watching; not to be recognized or be rewarded but because it's just the right thing to do. If you get a chance, please review with your child the meaning of this word and what it means for you as their parent and as a family. As always thanks again for your support at home.

Have a great week Silverhawks,

Aaron Bagwell

TOYS FOR TOTS STARTS THIS WEEK!

Parent Square Information

The Peoria Unified School District invites you to join ParentSquare, our new parent communication system. ParentSquare will be used for us to send out school, district and community updates. This is a different tool than ParentVUE, which is used to check your child’s attendance, grades, etc. Both are valuable for families to have to be engaged in your child’s educational career.

ParentSquare has a free app which you can download (Look for the logo above), which will allow you to customize your notification settings to select when and how you will receive updates, and it can also let you select your language preferences. While downloading the app is preferred, it is not required for staff or families to still receive district or school-related updates.

In order to receive updates from the district or your child's school within ParentSquare, your contact information must be displayed correctly in ParentVUE.

8th Grade Civics Test Tuesday

Mr. Beltram has been working hard to prepare our 8th graders for their first high school graduation requirement "The Civics Test". Please have your child prepared and ready to show their citizenship knowledge on Tuesday 11/29!

REINDEER RUN ON FRIDAY 12/2

We will be hosting our 2nd Lake Pleasant Reindeer Run. The event will take place on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Lake Pleasant Elementary.

We encourage all students to participate in this event. We would love to see as many parents as possible cheering on the runners.

Also, we are looking for donations to use as prizes for the runners at each grade level. If you would like to donate, we would appreciate any donations of Gatorade 12 oz. or 20 oz, large size candy bars, any type of balls (football, soccer, basketball, volleyballs, kickballs…..), jump ropes, hula hoops, and any other toy you feel would be exciting to win. The more donations we have, the more prizes we will be able to give away. Each student who participates will have their name placed in the drawing. Please send in donations by Wednesday, November 30th.

Thank you for your support!

REINDEER RUN SCHEDULE

Here you will find pictures of kids learning or being recognized along with staff recognitions as well!

Turkey Trot in Kindergarten

Last week our Kindergarteners were able to have a turkey trot. They dressed up like turkeys and ran around a pre-designed course. Look at all the fun these little turkeys had. Way to go Silverhawks!

3rd Grade "Fill the Boot"

Last week 3rd graders went to Rio Salado park for a pancake breakfast and to hear about our “Fill the Boot with Books” reading competition that the Peoria fire department is sponsoring.

3rd Grade Science Experiment

3rd grade did a science experiment last week! We are studying energy, so the experiment was to try and quickly melt ice with the materials that were given to the group. We had fun and did a great job!

Book Tasting in 4th Grade

Last week 4th graders in Mrs. Hager's class had a book tasting. Students sat with friends to enjoy Thanksgiving themed fiction and non-fiction books. They talked about their favorite books, and some students read to their friends. There were also some treats to add to fun!

This section will provide any information on upcoming elections. Remember your principal is an old government teacher so make sure you are an active member of our great democracy!
