Keepers of tradition The K-State Alumni Center's Memorabilia Room and Hagans Library

At the K-State Alumni Association, we're proud to be the keepers of tradition, preserving K-State history, artifacts and memories for generations to come.

Memorabilia Room

The K-State Alumni Center has a collection of K-State memorabilia that is open to the public to come and view.

The Memorabilia Room, located on the first floor of the Alumni Center, has a variety of K-State items, ranging from clothing, to books, letters, postcards and more.

Hagans Library

Hagans Library is a quiet spot located on the second floor of the K-State Alumni Center.

Hagans Library houses a collection of Royal Purple yearbooks, books by K-Staters and Kansans, K-Stater magazine archives and more.

The library is named in honor of Robert F. "Bob" Hagans '50 and his family. Hagans was a trailblazer and long-time supporter of K-State.

He served as chair of the KSU Foundation board and chair of the Foundation's first fundraising campaign. He was a co-founder of Colbert Hills and was one of the first major donors for the K-State Alumni Center project.

He received the K-State Alumni Association's Medallion Award in 2001 and was a K-State Alumni Fellow for the College of Business Administration in 1989.

Hagans passed away in 2012, leaving behind an incredible K-State legacy that has spanned many generations of Wildcats.

Did you know? Class books, the predecessors of the yearbook, first appeared at Kansas State Agricultural College in 1891. The class books were given various names such as The Sledge, Sunrise, The Bell Clapper and The Banner. It wasn’t until 1909 that the name Royal Purple appeared on the cover of the college annual.
Classic K-State memorabilia displays are featured on the library walls.

K-State’s first use of the bobcat as a school mascot was in 1915 when football coach John “Chief” Bender gave his team the nickname “Wildcats.” Thank you to Patty McDonnell Clark ’74 for the donation of this bobcat to the Alumni Association.
