Shakespeare is known as one of the greatest writers in European literature. He dominated the theatrical world in London, however today he still remains the "most widely read and recognized author in the World" (William Shakespeare).
Over Shakespeare's many years of producing many works, he changed the production of plays dramatically. He used "intense devotion to characters, stage direction, and mood setting props. In addition, he combined realism with style to produce 38 plays" (William Shakespeare)
Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare's most famous works. Behind this play, politically and generally, there was a lot going on. "Queen Elizabeth I had sat on the throne for nearly forty years, enlarging her power at the expense of the aristocracy and the House of Commons" (Julius Caesar).It was obvious Queen Elizabeth was not going to have an heir and her subjects were worried what would happen to her and London eventually.
Shakespeare tried to ask his audience to think about the parallels between ancient Roman history and contemporary politics. For instance, Many feared that Queen Elizabeth's death "would plunge England into the kind of chaos that had plagued England during the fifteenth-century Wars of the Roses" (Julius Caesar). Shakespeare could have not commented on the political situation during his day through "Julius Caesar" and better.
